The Help and Information Center on Sexual Harassment in the Workplace was founded in 1980. In the beginning, we were a committee affiliated to an organization which defends the rights of non-unionized workers. However, in light of the problem of sexual harassment in the workplace, we decided to create an independent group. This marked the birth of our organization. Our expertise lies mainly with non-unionized environments within small and medium-sized businesses in Quebec.

As the only non-profit organization in Quebec dedicated exclusively to addressing sexual harassment in the workplace, GAIHST has, since 1993, had a provincial designation, namely Help and Information Center on sexual Harassment in the Workplace.
Since 2000, at the request of our clients, wealso handled psychological harassment cases. As a result, we are now also known as the Help and Information Center on Harassment in the Workplace.

GAIHST acts as a support group for individuals seeking moral support and technical assistance in defending their right to a workplace free from sexual and/or psychological harassment. Our expertise is primarily focused on small and medium-sized non-unionized businesses. GAIHST also acts as an advisory organization for companies interested in updating or implementing a policy for the prevention and management of psychological harassment and sexual violence. 

The main objective of GAIHST is to break the isolation and the wall of silence surrounding people who are experiencing or have experienced such situations, and to raise public awareness about workplace harassment.
